Speaker Instructions

Oral presentations

Please come prepared with a PowerPoint on a flash drive as we wish to avoid unplugging of the main presentation laptop (Windows) provided by POF2014 committee with the individual laptops of each speaker. Prior to your session, and as early as possible — possibly first thing in the morning or during lunch — have the session assistant load your presentation on the computer from your flash drive and briefly test it to insure that it functions properly. At the end of each session, all presentations will be deleted from the computer, ensuring that your presentation can not be used by anyone else.

Microsoft PowerPoint is the primary software used for presentations. Should your presentation be in another format or a Mac format, please test it out on a PC using PowerPoint to make sure that it will be compatible with the on-site PC, and bring a backup copy in PDF format. If the presentation has been prepared in PowerPoint for Mac this is rarely a problem.

If you do need to use your own PC or Mac laptop, you will need to connect it to a LCD projector. We ask that you be considerate of the presenter following you and make sure your technical setup does not take away from any of their presentation time. Mac users will need to bring their own VGA adapters.

Contributed oral presentations are scheduled for 19 minute timeslots. 15 minutes are allotted for each presentation plus 4 minutes for questions. Invited talks are scheduled for 24 minute timeslots. 20 minutes are allotted for each presentation plus 4 minutes for questions. Time limits will be strictly enforced by the session moderator, who will warn each speaker when they are approaching their time limit.
Laser pointers will be provided for each session.

If for any reason you are unable to present, please let the POF2014 Secretariat know by email at <info@pof2014.org>. If possible, notify the moderator of your session as well. If you can’t attend the meeting, a co-author may give the presentation for you.

Poster presentations

Poster presentation session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th at the 1st floor of Raiosha Hall from16:20 to 18:00. Each board will be numbered on the upper left corner. Be sure you place your poster on the board number for which you will be assigned on the conference final program available in late September. Poster set-up is scheduled from 12:10 to 13:25 during the lunch break. All posters must be set up before the poster session, and must remain up until Friday noon. All posters must be removed from the boards by 13:50, Friday, October 10th. Staffs will remove posters that remain on the poster boards after the time. Poster boards are in portrait format with a dimension of 1130 mm width x 1630 mm height. Thumb tacks or tapes will be provided to hang your poster.
